How to Apply
The Partners in Energy application is your first step toward turning local energy goals into clear, actionable strategies. If your application is accepted, you will receive two years of planning and implementation support.
When you’re ready to apply, download the application form below and submit completed application via email to: PartnersInEnergy@xcelenergy.com.
Planning Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed quarterly on February 15, May 15, August 15, and November 15.
Energy Action Planning
This pathway helps communities launch a collaborative energy planning process with confidence. It provides comprehensive support to develop a community-wide energy action plan grounded in local priorities.
Beneficial Electrification Planning
This pathway helps communities advance the transition from fossil fuels to efficient electric technologies. With targeted planning support, you’ll explore opportunities to electrify buildings and transportation, reduce emissions, and improve energy resilience.
Electric Vehicle Planning
This pathway helps communities expand electric vehicle adoption and charging infrastructure. With targeted support, you’ll assess current conditions, identify opportunities, and engage stakeholders to build a shared vision for transportation
electrification.
Because program resources are limited, applications are carefully reviewed based on factors such as community readiness, available capacity, and alignment with program goals. While submission does not guarantee acceptance, our team will follow up within one month of each deadline with a decision or request for additional information.

For communities that have already completed a planning process, the graduate support option provides continued assistance focused on implementation and continued momentum. By building on previous work, communities can deepen their impact, adapt to evolving priorities, and ensure long-term success in achieving their energy goals. This ongoing support helps communities navigate emerging challenges, seize new funding opportunities, and maintain the partnerships necessary to turn their energy plans into lasting, real-world results.
