Xcel Energy’s Small Business Toolkit can help connect your community’s small and medium-sized businesses with the resources they need to realize energy and cost savings. Most of the materials were developed to support outreach to small and medium-sized businesses that don’t have dedicated facility managers.
Small businesses are the heart and soul of our communities, often providing the character to our neighborhoods, unique districts, and downtown. In fact, 99.9% of businesses in the United States are small businesses. Unfortunately, owning a small business presents unique challenges and 50% of small businesses go out of business within the first 5 years (sba.gov). Helping our smaller businesses save money by saving energy is a great wait to support our community.
The goal of this toolkit is to help you encourage small business owners to take action on energy efficiency and renewable energy. The toolkit will guide you through the process of identifying properties, determining your target action, and planning and executing your strategy.
